Heidi is offering a butter candle to the Ganges river. These were made on little bowls made of leaves, with marigolds.
Such little candles seemed mostly aimed at tourists, but we had fun floating them out anyway.
You are supposed to say a prayer and watch the candle float away into the mist. The quality of the river water can be guessed from this photo.
